Carbs

Carbs. For some people, “carb” has taken on the life of a four letter word. We think to ourselves that we would definitely have the body that we want, if only we could just get rid of those carbs. yet are carbs really bad for you? That’s the entire point of today’s article, and the good news is that carbs really aren’t bad for you — in moderation and in type.

What do we mean? Well, simply put the truth is that carbs are something the body uses for energy, and energy is something that you definitely can’t live without. They do provide fast bursts of energy, but that’s part of the problem that people have with carbs. You see, when you eat simple carbs, they turn into simple sugars. Too much sugar in the body makes you feel tired and sluggish, because the body is expecting more of the same and it can’t get that. Once your supply is burned up, the body is left hanging — and you definitely feel it.

Still, the truth of the matter is that you need carbohydrates to stay healthy — but you need to make sure that you are eating the right ones. Whole wheat grains are going to make up complex carbs, which are the type of carbs that you need to eat.

The other thing that you want to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t just eat carbs on their own. You will want to pair them with other sources of energy, such as protein. In fact, if you really want to make sure that you are having a balance in your diet, you will need to combine the two in order to lose weight. You need to ensure that you keep a balance because you will need to still take in carbs to feel full as well.

It’s better to see carbs as a necessary part of your diet rather than thinking that they are the enemy. Of course, just because you’ve decided to incorporate carbs into your life doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t track them, or take them in moderation. As mentioned before, you don’t want to just inhale carbs. You need to work them in and you nee dot track what you’re actually eating. Depending on your diet, you might want to actually change the percentage of carbs that you have. Some people like to do 33% carbs, 33% protein, and 33% fat. It just depends on the weight loss goals that you have.

Just because you’re deciding to eat more carbs doesn’t mean that you have to have a bread fest, either. You can get carbs from legumes as well as leafy vegetables. There are numerous vegetables — such as onions — that have their share of carbs. This means that carbs can be healthy and delicious — veggies have a crunch that’s just out of this world!

Overall, are all carbs bad for you? After reading this article, you’ll realize that carbs really aren’t as bad as people make them out to be, so why not add them to your diet today?
